Eager Americans

Monday 5th October. I met the McKee family from Pittsburgh PA at the Caledonian Hilton for a full day. Kraig, his wife and his Mom and Pops. We went for a full day tour to include the Castle and the Palace. They were really special in that very American way. Enthusiastic respectful, courteous and up for a laugh at every opportunity. Humour figures strongly in my tours having made a living in the past writing and performing comedy material.

Pops has back trouble so we went slowly. He also loves to take pictures so we enjoyed a very leisurely pace and only got half of my planned route covered. Again, the weather favoured us with lots of sunshine and almost perfect views of the city, especially from the Castle and they agreed they had never seen a more beautiful city. Lunch in the Royal MacGregor a wee pub in the High Street where I introduced them to that great Scottish Delicacy, Cullen Skink. Because of the lazy pace, the laughs, being challenged and kept on my toes thanks to Pops' excellent knowledge of British history, the weather and, the star of the show, Edinburgh herself, I think this was probably my best tour ever!
